NASTURTIUMS!

Rhubarbs are a perennial that comes back year after year, and so do nasturtiums!

Though rhubarb can take a long time to be ready to harvest, it is a beautiful plant. Why not pair this fantastic looking plant with nasturtium flowers and use it in your landscaping! Nasturtiums are bright, gorgeous flowering plants that last many years.

They look fantastic paired with rhubarb plants in a garden, along a walkway, as a border. Or place one or two of each in a large patio container and it will be a bright beautiful focal point!

Nasturtiums are super easy to grow, drought tolerant, very hardy and they attract important pollinators like bees into your garden. They also help repel destructive pests like aphids and cabbage moths, which means your nearby vegetables benefit. And as an added bonus, the leaves of your nasturtium plants are known to have some health benefits as well.

STRAWBERRIES!

3 reasons why strawberries are a great companion plant to rhubarb:

  1. Strawberries grow much closer to the ground than most rhubarb varieties. When planted strategically near to rhubarb, they benefit from the filtered sun.

  2. Soil/nutrients: Strawberry plants are full of fast growing leaves, and their dead leaves and rotting berries add needed nutrients to the soil, feeding the rhubarb plants.

  3. Pests and problems: Strawberry plants are susceptible to aphids and rhubarb leaves are known to help deter aphids.
